Okay, so…you always think your kids are the cutest. BUT I swear every week I meet adorable kids that give my kids a run for their money. We had a fun time taking these pics. Thanks you guys for being such good sports, and I hope the beignets were a good treat.

I walk among angels ~ 1-1-11 ~ Photographer ~ Covington, LA

The beginning of a brand new year…and what a date…1-1-11! Fresh new start all the way around. On this great day (minus the speeding ticket, and kneeling in dog poop) I had the privilege to walk among angels. I don’t usually write on my blog post, I let the images speak for themselves, but this was a different experience.
My journey through the Natchez City Cemetery was anything but ordinary, of course. This cemetery was established in 1822, covering over 100 acres of land and overlooks the Mississippi river as though it is the ultimate resting place for any pauper on up to plantation royalty. The iron work, marble and brick work will blow your mind.
The angels, of course, I was drawn to. My mom loves angels. They adorn every shelf in their home. Each one is different. The same goes for the angels that are all over the Natchez cemetery. My favorite is this angel directly below.
You can see…he hides his face…from the pain.
Toward the bottom of the gallery I have some photos of the federal cemetery, where our great heroes are buried. The tombstone of an unknown soldier is a heavy thing to think about. Nobody knew who you were, but your honor and bravery is not forgotten. It was a profound day of reflection for me. I hope you enjoy the pics.
For my Photog friends: These pics were taken with my new lensbaby composer at f/2 with varied shutter speeds. No photoshop blurs used, just adjusted to black and white. Got my new lensbaby for Christmas…and I am in LOVE. It has taught me a thing or two…or twenty-five.
